Fifty years of pointing people at the horizon
Founded in 1974 by Bengt Magnusson and Morgan Nilsson. Still the same family, still the same lake.
Check availabilityBengt — Karin’s father — started this with Morgan Nilsson in 1974. More than fifty years later the camp is run by Rick, Karin and Axel, with three to five experienced guides joining us each summer, all with real backgrounds in outdoor guiding and wilderness tourism. Bengt is still around. So is Olaf, the dog.
What half a century gives you is not marketing copy. It is knowing which bay is sheltered when the wind swings north, which portage is worse than it looks on the map, and when a family with small children should not attempt the crossing today. That is what we hand over along with the paddles.
Safety comes first, always. Every member of staff is trained in it. Before you leave we talk through your ability, your preferences and the weather — and we will tell you honestly if the plan needs changing.
We are an Eco-Lighthouse certified business. Leave no trace is not a slogan here; it is the reason the place still looks like this.

They spent an hour with us and a map before we left, and every single thing they said about the wind turned out to be right. Six days, two portages, no other people.
The tipi was warmer than our house. Our seven-year-old fell asleep to the sound of the river and has asked about the beavers every week since.
Been paddling Femundsmarka for twenty years and still book the canoe here. Aluminium boats, proper kit, and people who actually know the water.
A letter from the lake, four times a year
Ice-out dates, when the mosquitoes ease off, new routes, last-minute openings. No noise.
